All,
I need to know who can't/won't camp on Friday night at Prince William
Forest Park. Please let me know ASAP. If a ride is the issue, let me know
that also.

We've been trying to put together a 20-mile hike for about a month and we
finally have it scheduled for this Saturday. Because of the length of this
hike, we expect it to take close to 10 hours from start to finish. With
only 11 1/2 hours of daylight, our schedule will be set for us by the sun.
The no-later-than (NLT) step-off time will be 0700 with a planned finish
time of 1700. In order to support this schedule, it would be easiest if we
just go out on Friday and spend the night. Otherwise, boys can participate
by arriving at camp well fed and ready to start hiking by 0650. We could
probably use one more adult who can walk 20 miles if any parents want to go.

Those scouts who are not yet 1st Class will stay in camp during this time
and work on lower rank requirements as well as provide support to the hike
in the form of water delivery and cooking meals (David J. will be hiking and
Anton J. will have the option).

I realize this is a late notice (especially if your son hasn't mentioned
it). I will take care of purchasing the food for meals, but boys should
pack their own trail snacks. The overall cost will be $15 for those spending
the night, and $10 for those who are not.

The weather for Friday night is 30% chance of snow with highs in the
upper 20s and Saturday will be 20-45 F.

Please reply with questions

Thanks,

Chris
