Boy Scout Handbook Survey Offers Unique Opportunity
The Boy Scouts of America has announced plans to publish a new edition of the Boy Scout Handbook in early 2010 in conjunction with the 100th anniversary of the BSA. A BSA handbook taskforce will come together this Fall to begin framing the new handbook. The BSA program director is interested in comments and suggestions for the new handbook and has posted a survey form on the internet. The BSA Website, http://www.scouting.org has a direct link to its Boy Scout Handbook Survey which is reproduced below. Shown in italics (not part of the BSA survey form) are some food for thought issues that are offered to stimulate your comments and suggestions.
We owe it to present and future Scouts to give this our close attention since a handbook edition normally endures for about 10 years before it is replaced with a new edition. Ten years equates to many thousands of Boy Scouts a half generation that are either well served or poorly served by their Scout Handbook. You are encouraged to go to the BSA web site and offer your suggestions for the next Scout handbook!
