When and Where

The camporee will be held October 20-22 2006 at Curtis Memorial Park in Stafford, VA. The Park is located 7 miles west of the I-95 and Rte 17 intersection. Take Rte 17 west to Hartwood Road (SR 612), turn right at intersection and follow Hartwood Road 2 miles to Jesse Curtis Lane on the right. The park is located at 58 Jesse Curtis Lane.

Units may arrive on Friday evening or on Saturday morning - your choice, all we ask is that you let us know. The camporee will end after the closing program on Sunday (about 9:30 am). All units should be out of Camp by 11 AM Sunday Morning. If you are coming in on Friday evening, you should plan on arriving between 5:00 pm and 8:00 pm. If you plan to arrive on Saturday morning, please be sure to get to the Camporee by no later than about 7:45 am.

Registration Deadlines

Early registration deadline is September 14th - The cost for the Camporee is $12.00 per participant (Scout or Adult) for the entire weekend if you pre-register on or before the deadline. All slots are first come, first booked. Make your check payable to NCAC-BSA. A single check per unit is the preferred method of payment. Do Not Send Cash.

If you miss the early registration deadline but still want to register, we will accept your registration. Late registration fees are $17.00 per participant and must be received no later than October 6. NO Additional Unit registrations will be taken after October 6, 2006. However, units pre-registered before the October 6th deadline will be able to make adjustments to their numbers

All participants must be registered and involved in the program. Registration fees cover the cost of the park use, program, patches, insurance and prizes. Early estimates from troops of the number of attendees will greatly assist in the purchase of program supplies.

Refund Policy - Cold or wet weather is not a valid reason to cancel a camporee registration. In the highly unlikely event the camporee is entirely cancelled due to extreme weather conditions or other Act of God, all pre-paid registrations will be returned minus a charge for actual costs incurred.

Campsite Assignment - Upon arrival at the camporee site, an adult leader should report to the check-in station to get their campsite assignment and to turn in a final roster of scouts attending the camporee (this roster is mandatory). Also, at this time the names of at least 2 adult volunteers who will be helping in the program area on Saturday should be provided.

Cracker Barrel - A review of the weekend program, to include a safety briefing, will be conducted at 8:30 pm Friday evening, followed by a cracker barrel. Each unit must be represented by a Senior Patrol Leader or his designated leader.

Traffic Control and Parking - Park policy prohibits personal vehicles from driving on any grass areas. There will be NO parking at or driving to the campsites! Vehicles also present a safety hazard on a campground. Upon entering the park, you will follow the road to the parking lot on the left. Please do not stop along this road. All vehicles will be parked in a parking space. Individual gear will have to be carried into the sites, a distance of less than an eighth mile. Trailers must remain in the parking lot!!

Troops are encouraged to car pool as much as possible and arrange to have as few cars as possible remain at the Camporee parking lot.

Cooking and Cleaning - There will be NO, repeat NO, ground fires allowed at the Park. Propane stoves, gas grills, and raised fire pits are allowed for cooking. All liquid waste must be strained and removed with the rest of the unit's trash. Please practice LEAVE NO TRACE.

Water - Each unit should carry in their initial water supply. Water will be available for refills as needed.

Check-Out Procedures - Units are expected to ensure their campsite area has been policed and that all trash is being carried out with them. Units should contact a member of the camporee staff before departure for final clearance.

Emergency Contact - It is recommended that units have access to several cellular phones, which could be used as a primary contact for members of their unit. The office number for Curtis Park is 540-752-5660, but it should only be used in case of a real emergency.

First Aid & Emergency Medical - The First Aid Station will be set up near the ADMIN building / Staff area and will be marked with a prominent sign. All injuries, even minor ones treated in the campsite, must be brought to the First Aid station personnel for treatment and/or recording.
