Subject: Camporee Info

All,

There are several things to remember about the upcoming camporee that I need
to pass out to all.

Saturday lunch - Please remember that the district is providing the lunch on
Saturday (part of your registration fee). Lunch will consist of a hot dog,
chips, cookie and drink. Times will be posted at the check-in tent on
Friday as to when you can have someone from the troop come up and get the
lunches. This is being done to speed up lunch so that everyone can be in
the bleachers and can watch the air show.

Saturday airshow - Weather permitting, there will be a special air show on
Saturday during the lunch time break. Everyone who has registered for the
camporee has already paid for the air show (again part of your registration
fee). Anyone coming into the camporee site on Saturday that will be there
during the time of the air show will be required to pay the $7.00 fee as the
district is being charged a flat rate of $7.00 per person. The fee can be
paid in cash or by check written to "NCAC-BSA."

Traffic flow - The only vehicles allowed in the campsite area will be those
dropping off the unit's trailer. The traffic flow is all one-way and with
over 400 people signed up to be there, extreme caution is required when
driving through the area.

Airplane rides - No one is permitted to participate in the airplane rides
unless they have submitted the required paperwork to the council office in
Bethesda and gotten it back as approved. This paperwork needs to be brought
to the camporee so that the pilots from the Flying Circus can see that all
riders have been approved. Priority for the rides will be given first to
the participants in the Aviation merit badge class followed by those in the
Space Exploration, Astronomy merit badges and finally the Trail to 1st Class
program.

Off-limit area - There are areas at the Flying Circus that are off-limits
and will be off-limits all weekend. Scouts need to be told that if they are

caught in an off-limits area, they will be asked to leave the camporee.
This is an active airfield so extreme caution must be used when moving about
the perimeter. Safety first, fun second!

Trash - There are no dumpsters available at the Flying Circus for us to put
our trash --- each unit must carry off its own trash.

Late, Late, Late Registrations - Due to the large number of scouts and
adults participating in the camporee program, we are busting at the seams
and placement of last minute walk-ins on Friday evening or Saturday morning
may be very hard to accommodate. Food for Saturday lunch is being purchased
based on the number of people registered and there probably will not be
sufficient quantities for last minute participants that we did not know
about.

Scouts in the Space Exploration and Astronomy merit badge sessions should
get a copy of the workbook that they can download from the district web site
or get a copy from their troop point of contact.

Scouts in the Trail to 1st Class should bring a compass to use on the
compass course.

If you have any questions, please let me know.
